About The Dietetic Internship Program
Individualized Supervised Practice Pathway (ISPP-Doctoral) Program
Medical City Healthcare has an Individualized Supervised Practice Pathway (ISPP-Doctoral) accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). ISPPs allow individuals holding a doctoral degree with or without a DPD verification statement to apply for an ISPP.

ISPP-Doctoral Program Admission Requirements
1. A minimum of a doctoral degree is required by the start date of the internship program.
2. An overall grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale is preferred but a GPA under 3.0 from a candidate that has an advanced degree and has successfully passed the DTR Exam or has at least 1 year of employment within HCA
3. Nutrition, Food Service, or Supervisory work experience required. Other work experience is helpful.
4. At least (3) Letters of Recommendation from individuals who can speak to your knowledge, skills, abilities, and work ethic.

- (1) Professional Reference from Nutrition or Food Service related internship or work experience
5. Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities that you have attended.
6. Submit a $75 non-refundable application fee. The application fee should be sent to HealthTrust Food and Nutrition Services, 1151 Enterprise Drive, Suite 100, Coppell, TX 75019. Please ensure your name is included with the payment. Checks should be addressed to Medical City Healthcare, ATTN Terry Brown, and sent with a completed supplemental application.
7. Submit a Dietetic Internship Centralized Application System (DICAS) application by the following deadline:​

General Spring Application Cycle: Due July 1, 2025
​​ 8. The finalist must complete a formal face-to-face interview
9. Final acceptance is contingent upon the successful completion of the Medical City Hospital physical, drug screen, and background check.

Medical City Healthcare ISPP Track Overview
-5 weeks of intern orientation
-12 weeks of clinical/medical nutrition therapy
-14 weeks of food service management/leadership
-6 weeks of community (includes 2 weeks of selected experience of the intern's choice)
-1280 hours of practicum experience

ISPP dietetic interns who live in the State of Texas are given priority status. The Medical City Dietetic Internship Program Director will set up all supervised practice experiences for individuals in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
​
ISPP dietetic interns residing outside of the DFW metroplex are responsible for securing their supervised practice experiences (an HCA facility for Medical Nutrition Therapy and Food Service Management/Leadership rotations are preferred). The Medical City Healthcare Dietetic Internship Program Director will assist the ISPP dietetic intern with placement at HCA facilities.​​ Please see the Medical City Healthcare Program ISPP Handbook for additional details.
